• Overview

  POPCORN (Pediatric Outcome imProvement through COordination of Research Networks) is pleased to announce an ongoing Call for Applications for travel awards. This funding opportunity supports member attendance to research-relevant pediatric and perinatal conferences. Over the course of one year, POPCORN will support travel awards to attend relevant conferences nationally and internationally.

  Applicants from diverse backgrounds and disciplines are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to trainees and early career researchers (ECRs). We encourage POPCORN’s root networks to share this funding opportunity with their members!

• Eligibility

  The applicant must:

  • be a POPCORN member (See the Membership Policy on the POPCORN website)

  • have received formal acceptance to present at an upcoming in-person conference relevant to POPCORN’s purpose and vision (See Appendix A for examples of conferences)

    • Conferences that do not appear in the list of examples and for which the relevance is not adequately justified in the application form will not be eligible for funding

  • be the presenting author of the abstract (poster or oral presentation)

  • not have previously been a recipient of a POPCORN travel award within the 12 months preceding the application date

  • not be receiving other funding to cover the submitted expenses, at the time of the application, and applicants must declare any other funding received or applied for that could cover these expenses

• Funding Details

  Duration: one-time payment

  Funding amount: up to a maximum of $5,000. The following eligible expenses will be reimbursed after the conference, upon submission of proof of attendance and the required supporting documentation:

  • Conference registration costs

  • Poster printing cost (if applicable)

  • Travel: Eligible travel expenses include economy-class airfare or train tickets, ground transportation (e.g., taxis between the airport and hotel), and mileage

  • Accommodation: hotel stay for the duration of the conference

  • Food: max $70 per day. Alcohol purchases are not eligible for refund.

  Supporting documentation: To be eligible for refund, submitted expenses must include the receipt and proof of payment (e.g., bank statement, card payment receipt). Note that itemized receipts are required for food reimbursements.
