What Do We Want To Know?
This project is exploring the best way to check for cytomegalovirus (CMV) during pregnancy. CMV is a common virus, and it can sometimes affect a baby’s health before birth. The research team is looking at past research to see how well current CMV tests work and how often they show a positive result.
How Are We Doing It?
By looking at past research papers, researchers are comparing different ways to screen for CMV to find out which method works best. The results will help healthcare providers and hospitals choose the most effective approach for prenatal care.
The results will also help design a larger study to see how CMV screening could be offered to all pregnant people in Canada.
How Is The Project Going?
All screening for the project is complete. We are currently working on data abstraction for the 120 articles that will be included in the review.
Who Is Included?
The studies the research team looked at included pregnant people taking part in routine prenatal screening.
